About Me

Hi, all.

Most of those coming to this website and this blog will probably know me as ciuva, as that’s my preferred username on most websites I am on. My real name is Catrine Sandal, and I live in Norway with a friend and her dog.

My “real” job is being a receptionist at a hotel downtown, and I am also a fulltime student of linguistics here at the University of Bergen. I almost put “fulltime” in quotes as I’m not really the kind of student who always works hard. Anyway, I am writing my master’s thesis right now, on case variation in Old Norse (touching upon modern Icelandic, Norwegian, Russian, Latin and some other languages). So nowadays I sit with my nose in a Norse dictionary, writing notes on my long lists of verbs. I also do some translation between English and Norwegian on the side.

As you can probably guess, my main interest is languages. Few things can make me so enthusiastic. But I also dabble in digital and pencil art, of which I will probably upload some sketches in time. Oh, and I nearly forgot photography. I also have a novel project going on and will possibly upload some snippets and short stories from that. In addition to that I am currently re-designing my two websites, and trying to become healthier.

Last but not least I do Irish dancing in Irish Dance Company, based in Bergen, Norway, and I don’t think I’ll ever regret starting that. I will add a link in the sidebar so you can check out our website.
